About

About

Lichfield Discovered is a group of volunteers who love our local history and want to share it with our communities. We all love our cathedral, Johnson and Darwin, but we also want to get the word out about the lives of ordinary people, hidden histories and the sense of the places we call home. We delve into research about the city of Lichfield, the neighbouring town of Burntwood and the array of villages stretching from Blithbury to Fazeley

We post about the histories we dig out from unlikely sources and many hours spent poring over maps and LiDAR images and provide a space for discussion, questions and sharing ideas and histories.

If you want to get involved, jump into the social media comments, join us for one of our free or low cost events, or drop us an email.

Our Story

Lichfield Discovered was set up in 2013 by a group of local people who wanted to share their passion for Lichfield area’s history. Starting with social media and meets in pubs, it expanded to running talks and walks and has been sharing research and starting discussions ever since.

We are still entirely volunteer led and managed and have plans to extend our offer for our communities further in the coming years.
